What is IPv4?

An Internet protocol address (IP address) is a unique combination of numbers and dots such as 2.1.1.1. This combination of numbers acts as an identity for the network device when it connects to the internet.

IP addressing is a logical technique for giving devices on a network addresses. Each internet-connected device needs its own IP address.

What is IPv6?

IPV6 has been developed to replace IPV4 which is running out of addresses. Although it has been around almost 10 years it is still not widely deployed and supported.

However adoption rates are increasing rapidly and IPv6 traffic crossed the 10% threshold in February 2016.

How Accurate is data?

Depending on the database you pick, the geolocation database's accuracy varies. Although the normal Ip2Country database accuracy is closer to 95%, some providers claim to deliver 98% to 99% accuracy for IP-to-country databases.

What is data source?

The IP whois data is freely available, and it is not difficult to identify the country from this database. When a company needs a block of IP addresses, a request is made, and the requested ISP is given the IP numbers that have been allotted.
