Speed Test
Measure download and upload throughput, latency and jitter — straight from your browser, no plugins.
Connection speed
ReadyWhat the numbers mean
Download and upload
Throughput in megabits per second. Note that megabits are not megabytes — a 100 Mbps connection downloads at roughly 12.5 MB/s.
Ping and jitter
Ping is how long a round trip takes. Jitter is how much that varies. For calls and gaming, low jitter matters more than raw speed — a fast connection with high jitter still stutters.
Getting an accurate result
Close streaming tabs and pause large downloads first; they compete for the same bandwidth. Wifi is usually the bottleneck rather than your ISP — testing over a cable tells you what you are actually paying for.
Distance matters too. Download is measured against the nearest Cloudflare edge, so it reflects your line closely wherever you are. Upload and latency are measured against our server in New York — from another continent those numbers describe the route as much as your connection.
